About Renee B. Whelan

Renee B. Whelan, Ed.D., is an instructional coach for early childhood for Belmar Elementary and Matawan-Aberdeen Regional District in New Jersey. She is also part of William Paterson University's contingent faculty in the department of teacher education. She has 25 years of early childhood educational experience, concentrating on curriculum, assessment, and professional learning, as well as years of policy development and budgetary experience. Previously, she worked as the director of early childhood education for Long Branch Public Schools. Whelan also worked as a principal, an early childhood education program specialist for the New Jersey Department of Education, a curriculum facilitator/instructional coach, and an early childhood teacher. Her research agenda includes early childhood sustainability learning and practices, performance-based assessment in mathematics, technology in early childhood, teacher leadership, early literacy, and interdisciplinary learning.
