Teachers can provide crucial support to children who have experienced or are experiencing trauma. Listening deeply and attentively to the child creates a much-needed sanctuary and helps the child feel safe. Offering the child a way to express what they are feeling, through art, music, or other creative outlets, is important. Sharing moments of joy builds a sense of safety that encourages the child to connect with others as well.
