Getting to know each family and finding ways to connect, meeting them where they are, gives teachers insight into each child’s life. Reflecting on your reactions and interactions with different families provides an opportunity to reframe connections that are not as easy or natural. Viewing adults in a strength-based way is helpful, and remembering the stress families face. All families need validation and reassurance, and appreciate knowing that their child is at home in your program. Sharing good news is a great way to connect.
