All people have bias toward what they know. Programs and institutions are bound to have unintentional bias which can have a painful impact on community members. It takes a variety of points of view to critically examine the bias that is present in a program. The most detrimental view is that “our program is not biased, I treat all people the same.” An open and curious approach fosters positive change and growth.
