This video describes how to prepare for an extended walk in a natural setting. Katrina Pollock, Master Teacher at the University of Delaware Lab Preschool, explains that before taking children to any new environment, it’s important for the teacher to visit the site ahead of time to make sure the location is safe. An advance visit is also critical for planning about physical access for all of the children, cell phone reception (in case of emergency), and preparing for what the children will see and experience.
