The pre-kindergarten children in this video clip are involved in a long-term investigation, using ramps and chimes on a large magnetic wall. A group of children who previously investigated sound by varying the slope of the ramps and distance of the chimes posed a qualitative math question to the children in this video: “Does the song sound faster because the marble travels faster down the ramp or because the chimes are closer together?” Since both the steep slope and the close chimes make the top song faster, the question stated as an either/or format might be confusing.
