To say I was taken aback when I was asked to write this article may be a minor understatement. Exchange has been an important resource in my career, and I am honored to have been asked to be a part of it. It began when I commented on an Exchange Every Day email, which asked readers to share their thoughts about love and the educational environment. I commented that I thought love is crucial to education. Children need to feel loved, safe, and supported before any learning can happen. I was drawn to comment on this query, as that is the firm foundation on which both my teaching philosophy and leadership philosophy are set.
