I started my leadership journey as the director of a large campus child care center. During my 40-year tenure, I participated in developing and teaching a 42-credit series of courses on administration, program development, and leadership for ECE directors and administrators. I now serve as the coordinator for the Exchange Leadership Initiative and as a convener for the ROW initiative. Through each of these opportunities, I have come to understand that leadership matters! Not leadership as a title, or position, but leadership that brings people together with love, caring, belonging, and acceptance. While it has always been important, in these times, leadership—as a way of being—is essential.
