At St. John’s Preschool in Washington, D.C., we organize different kinds of initiatives with children’s families. Recently we hosted a parent breakfast to share aspects of a classroom project about trees. Parents toured the classroom, reading the displays, examining artifacts and video, and talking with teachers about the work. A great discussion ensued about noticing. Here are some reflections that supported our observations and interpretations of children’s thinking and doing.
