This year, the ECC received a grant from the Jewish Education Project for Singing with Seniors, an intergenerational program which brought together 18 children from our pre-K classroom with older adults to make musical moments together, and shape positive concepts of aging that could last a lifetime. The grant had three goals:

1) to learn each other’s names and
2) to say hi to each other at the Y
3) to bring joy to the children and seniors.

Those goals may sound unremarkable. Isn’t it easy to get to know someone’s name? Doesn’t it just happen? Why does it matter? How does music help us get to know each other?
