This article explores the profound gap between the evolving demands placed on children and the unchanging tools and methodologies used by the educators who prepare them. I argue that this disparity places an unrealistic burden on early childhood educators. I strive to celebrate the efforts of these educators while also offering actionable ideas for transforming ECE to meet the needs of the 21st century. It is a pity, in my view, that the classroom I stepped into in 1975 is so similar to the one I will step into tomorrow.
