Last summer, I attended the summer conference of the North American Reggio Emilia Alliance (NAREA) in Albuquerque, New Mexico. I invite these opportunities to learn from other educators with an eager heart and mind because they truly help me to break out of my own ideological rut (we all get stuck in them) and consider things from different perspectives. Full disclosure—this is my second iteration of this article because after listening to the presentations at the conference I realized a natural connection that I had initially neglected to see. When I reflect on my past school year, with a group of spunky and spirited preschoolers, I consistently come back to clay as a material that connected and united us and provoked a sense of wonder and awe.
