About Jeff Suzik

Jeff Suzik has served as the director of Falk Laboratory School at the University of Pittsburgh since 2014, where he also holds an appointment as an associate professor in the School of Education. He received his doctorate from Carnegie Mellon University in 2005, and is an historian of youth and adolescence, with a particular emphasis on the transition into adulthood of working-class teenaged boys before World War II. An experienced educator and administrator, he was formerly the head of school at Mounds Park Academy in Minneapolis-St. Paul; assistant head of school at Mary Institute & St. Louis Country Day School in St. Louis; and history department chairperson, director of residential life, and dean of students at Pittsburgh’s Shady Side Academy. Early in his career, he taught English as a second language in Poland, and spent a formative year as a preschool teacher in Madison, Wisconsin.
