New Year, New Relationships
Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; indeed, it’s the only thing that ever has.

As we enter a new year it is time to prioritize making new relationships. Relationships with your state legislators.
While you may be celebrating successful progress made in your state over the last year, or maybe initial steps to moving things forward, it is not a time to stop. We must continue to show up and use our voice to improve and advance early childhood education.
All states should be making investments in children, families and in you, the early childhood workforce. As the experts, make it a goal this year to locate who represents you. Personally introduce yourself. Invite them into your programs/classrooms. Invite them to trainings and local early childhood events where you and colleagues can showcase your expertise. Stay in touch with them throughout the year, not just when they are in session. Ask your legislators how they will be advocating for early childhood education this year and how can you, the experts, be of assistance to them as they craft legislation for this new year.
You can help change outcomes for future generations by partnering together with legislators and offering your knowledge and sharing your experiences. No one knows this field better than you. Work together to ensure that all children birth to five, their families, and the early childhood workforce thrive. Healthy families and workforce contribute to healthy communities.
