Supporting young children means celebrating their uniqueness and increasing the space we hold for each child. This summer our friends at GatherRound are inviting community conversation around short films centering anti-bias, thriving communities, and the heart of early care and education.

Three films remain in the series.

July 24: Blewish
Being Blewish (Black & Jewish) can be frustrating, especially when people frequently assume that someone can’t be Jewish just because they’re Black. Blewish is the story of a boy stuck in the middle. Torn between either concealing or embracing his full identity, he learns how he can help create a world where no other child feels the pressure of having to make that choice again. Inspired by true events, Blewish is written & directed by Ezra Edmond.

August 7: Make A Circle
From an award-winning filmmaking team, this character-driven documentary shows early childhood educators who are feeding young minds while struggling to feed themselves. When the pandemic pushes an already fragile childcare system to the brink, they are faced with a decision: let go of all they have built and abandon the families in their communities, or fight for change.

August 21: No Small Matter
The first feature documentary to explore the most overlooked, underestimated, and powerful force for good in America today: early childhood education. Through poignant stories the film lays out the overwhelming evidence for the importance of the first five years, and reveals how our failure to act on that evidence has resulted in an everyday crisis for American families, and a slow-motion catastrophe for the country.

The cost of $15 per film includes your passcode to view the film, and a link to a Roundtable community discussion facilitated by GatherRound. You will also receive a recording of the Roundtable. These films and conversations are an inspiring way to prepare for fall programming for your staff or team.
