Supporting The Whole Person
Early educators…welcoming newcomers to the party we call life each and every day.
– Richard Cohen, From the Zen and the Art of Early Childhood Facebook Page
Nancy Rosenow, author of Encouragement Every Day, explained her motivation for writing the book:
“I knew from my experience as an early care and education administrator how important it was for me to support every educator as an individual; to care about the whole person. People who walk alongside children as mentors (which is what all skilled early educators are), share their beliefs about life simply by the way they themselves live. I want to support educators in their personal growth so that what they’re demonstrating to children is that life is intriguing, fun, loving, exciting, worth learning about, and worth cherishing.
“I think of Encouragement Every Day as a way to say to everyone working with children, ‘You matter. You are important. I’ve got your back. I care about your own growth and development as much as I do the children in your care.’”
