What do you know about ROW?
I celebrate teaching that enables transgressions – a movement against and beyond boundaries. It is that movement which makes education the practice of freedom.
– bell hooks, American author and theorist, 1952-2021
With a desire to convene new, diverse groups of passionate people to unite for change in early care and education, the Reimagining Our Work Initiative (ROW) was born. You may have heard bits and pieces over the last 4 years as ROW has been many things: a gathering place for conversation and substantive community; a collection of articles and books sharing stories of reflection and transformation; a forum of open meetings with timely and inspiring speakers and topics; a place to resist and respond to current events with dialogue and depth; a home to developing community and activism among practitioners and supporting one another along the way.
Exchange is beyond thankful to be home to the Reimagining Our Work Initiative and we warmly invite you and your colleagues to join this bold and creative community — to learn, reflect, grow, engage and defend the just future of early care and education.
The next ROW gathering will be held on July 30 at 2:00 pm Central. If you are new to Exchange or already familiar with the work, we welcome and seek your presence, and your voice.
The principles held closely by the ROW community are:
- Embrace our humanity.
- Invite diverse voices and ways of thinking.
- Center our work on social justice.
- Believe in educators.
With gratitude to the many people who have brought the ROW Initiative to this point, and in anticipation of more opportunities, leadership and joy as this transformational work continues to unfold.
