What Non-Education Books Do Educators Like?
When I look back, I am so impressed again with the life-giving power of literature. If I were a young person today, trying to gain a sense of myself in the world, I would do that again by reading, just as I did when I was young.

For day two of “Reading is Fun” and “Teacher Appreciation” Week, we want to share an online Edutopia article that describes five non-education books educators say they enjoy and find helpful. Here are a couple:
Soundtracks: The Surprising Solution to Overthinking, by Jon Acuff
Life in Five Senses: How Exploring the Senses Got Me Out of My Head and Into the World, by Gretchen Rubin
And for something you can read to help support children’s reading enjoyment, the wonderful Exchange Essentials article collection, “Literacy: Storytelling, Reading, Writing,” contains great articles like “Read with Me: Engaging Strategies for Picture Books” by Rebecca Curtis and Lauri Etheridge and “The Power to Fight Bad Guys and Lift Heavy Things: Storytelling in the Classroom” by Kelly Massey. (See the complete list below.)
