Wisdom from Nature – and Ruth Wilson – on this May Day
The world’s favorite season is the spring. All things seem possible in May.
– Edwin Way Teale
In her new book, Naturally Inclusive: Engaging Children of All Abilities Outdoors, available from our friends at Gryphon House, Ruth Wilson writes, “We tend to be happier, healthier, more socially engaged, and more creative when nature is an integral part of our daily lives. These benefits apply to people of all ages and abilities when they are physically, emotionally, and psychologically connected with nature.”
And in the Exchange Reflections, Beauty, Nature and Wellness,” based on her article, “Deeper Dimensions of Beauty,” Wilson invites groups of people to hold discussions about the significance of beauty in shaping the holistic development of children. She reminds all of us, adult and child alike, that the beauty found in nature can inspire a sense of wonder and awe and ultimately enhance a deep sense of well-being.
