Every family is unique, and it is helpful when teachers take time to understand and respect each family and where they are coming from. Differences in values, viewpoints, and cultural perspectives abound. Teachers can see and support children in the context of their family’s culture. This may require examining and changing expectations, in light of cultural differences.
