About Alicia D. Smith (Edit profile)

Alicia D. Smith is the early education and development faculty and program coordinator at South Mountain Community College in South Phoenix, Arizona. She possesses a doctorate in education from the University of Massachusetts Amherst, and later led the UMass child care system to its first NAEYC accreditation. Her BOLDest moments have been empowering staff to create systems of professional development that result from their own collaboration. Smith is a frequent presenter at NAEYC and NAEYC Professional Leadership Institute conferences and a passionate advocate for culturally responsive practices, social justice, and equity.
