About Julie Bookwalter

Julie Bookwalter, L.C.S.W., holds a master's degree in social work from the University of Southern California. She has been the director of the UCI Extended Day Center on the campus of the University of California-Irvine for over 25 years and teaches in the human development department at Irvine Valley College. Having grown up as a bit of a free-range child herself, she is passionate about providing children with experiences in nature that create a sense of competence, joy and wonder.
