About Lonnie Hendrickson
Lonnie Hendrickson has been a part of early childhood education since 2007. She has gained experience in many different frameworks; the thread connecting all of her work is the firm knowledge that children are deserving of respect as people, capable of anything when they have our support, we believe in them and work together to create a path of learning.
Hendrickson began working at a Reggio Emilia-inspired kindergarten in 2016 and knew she would never be able to stand in front of a blackboard again. Working with children ranging in age from 18 months to 6 years old, she has seen and experienced firsthand the wonder of emergent curriculum and investigative processes with her students. She has been lucky to participate in the Reggio Emilia on site seminar in Italy, where the ideals she learned have become part of her work.
Hendrickson has also worked for a year in the municipality’s kindergartens assessing children of different ages. She created development plans for each child and together, they implemented them throughout the year. The experience of bringing Reggio Emilia’s values to each child and their personal development made her even more determined to continue in the ECE field, learning and sharing knowledge with anyone who would love to learn along with her!
