Pat Furman earned her master’s degree in innovation in early childhood education in 2022. She has been executive director of Inspired by Wonder, two child care programs in Winnipeg, Canada since inception in 2004. She was a recipient of the 2016-2017 Prime Minister’s Award for Excellence in Early Childhood Education, as well as a recipient of the Winnipeg Centre MP 150th Anniversary Medal for Volunteerism, and the 2020 recipient of the Manitoba Child Care Association, Leader of the Year Award. She has worked in the early childhood field for over 20 years. Furman is also the co-chair of the Manitoba Reggio-Inspired Coalition of Educators (Manitoba Reggio) and is a member at large on the Vanier Institute of the family, a national organization. Recently she joined the children’s rights working group with the World Forum Foundation.
