About Kari Rains
Kari Rains is a child development specialist and adjunct instructor at Oklahoma State University. She has co-authored books and several research articles in the field of child development and provides early childhood education consultation and in-service training for programs across the state of Oklahoma. Initially working as a Head Start classroom teacher, Rains transitioned into working as a child development specialist with the state early intervention program. Due to these experiences, she gained insight and experience working with families in their homes of children born with special needs or children living with a developmental delay. As a mother of a child diagnosed ADHD/Sensory Processing and Tourette’s Syndrome, she has seen first-hand the realities of being a parent and an early childhood professional. She has made it her mission to team with Jane Humphries to assist those who work with children and adults who struggle with social/emotional regulation issues. Rains earned her undergraduate degree in communication sciences and disorders and her master’s degree in child development, both from Oklahoma State University.
