About Marie Long (Edit profile)

Marie Long joined the Desert Botanical Garden in Phoenix, Arizona, as director of education in 2019. She has 20 years of experience in education, interpretation and audience engagement at three nonprofit museums: The Living Desert, Palm Springs Desert Museum and the Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum. She has extensive experience in environmental education, interpretation and teaching desert ecology. Long has provided international expertise and advised on best practices regarding visitor services, interpretation and management plans for the United Arab Emirates Desert National Park, Shaumari Wildlife Reserve, Jordan and Siberian Association for Interpretation in Russia. Long holds a bachelor's degree in art from the University of South Carolina, applied science degree in horticulture from North Carolina State University and is a certified interpretive guide trainer for the National Association for Interpretation.
