About Phil Acord

Phil Acord is CEO of Chambliss Center for Children in Chattanooga, Tennessee. He is a big believer in advocacy and has been involved with and served as president of four state and two regional associations. In 2010, Acord received the outstanding SECA member award and TAEYC services to children award, and in 2012 the TCSW lifetime achievement award. He has served on the membership and nominating committees for NAEYC, and is a commissioner with the Child Welfare League of America. Acord was also appointed by the governor to serve on the Tennessee commission for children and youth. Acord has expanded the reach of Chambliss Center for Children to include six off-site centers and 12 school-based programs. These programs care for over 700 children daily and employ over 300 staff. He has been married to his wife Paulette for 51 years. They have one son, Alan.
